How AHP selects its Majors

An AHP Major is one of four hackathons selected that season for the strongest combination of competitive field, technical difficulty, scale, stakes, organizer credibility and global relevance.

Strength of field will eventually use AHP Top 100 participation. Historical field evidence still needs review; these selections do not yet have calculated scores.

Eligibility: a substantial technical build, with eligibility, permitted existing work and championship format reviewed individually. Hosting services such as Devpost do not count as the competition owner. Prize money or registrations alone cannot confer Major status.

2024–2027: Selection Era. Aim to select four events each season; 2027 places remain open until editions are announced. 2028 onward: proposed Major Era. Aim to establish four recurring competitions, subject to maintaining standards.

Proposed title points: Major 2,000 · Masters 1000 · AHP 500 · AHP 250. Placement points and team attribution remain to be defined; these points are not applied to the current editorial player rankings.

Events belong to the year of their submission deadline, or the final build day for live events. Overall titles, track titles and finalist appearances are recorded separately. Cash winnings, credits and investments are distinct; investment is not career earnings.

Collegiate and broader global challenges can have separate designations. Those categories and their ranking treatment remain to be defined.
